How To Clean A Steam Iron?

Author: Samir Joshi

Most people own an iron, but many people don’t take care of them.  Today we are going to discuss how to clean a steam iron.  Cleaning your steam generator iron regularly will help extend the life of your iron.  By taking care of your iron, you will save money by not having to buy a new iron all the time.

There are several parts of the iron you need to clean.  Make sure you clean the exterior of the iron completely.  Clean the handle of the iron along with the entire exterior.  Do not submerge your iron in water.  Submerging the iron could damage the electrical components of the appliance and render the iron useless.  Before cleaning the iron, read the owner’s manual if you still have it.  This will provide tips to clean the iron effectively.  Wipe down the iron (but not the soleplate) with a cloth to get any excessive residue off.  It is best to clean this part of the iron right after the soleplate.

Clean your steam generator iron reservoir with distilled water and vinegar.  Regular tap water is filled with minerals that can build up and clog the iron over time.  You will want to turn on the iron and let it get hot and spray all of the distilled water and vinegar until the reservoir is empty.  This will clean the reservoir thoroughly.

Obviously, you want to spend most of your time cleaning the soleplate.  The soleplate can build up cloths and fabrics over time that can clog the iron or leave spots on your clothes.  Use a sponge or towel to clean your cold iron with a cleaning solution.  Do not use paper towels or any abrasive cleaning pads that could permanently scratch the iron.  If you find a lot of buildup on the iron, you can use a cloth dipped in vinegar and rub off any built-up debris.  Do not use pointy or sharp objects on the iron as this can also damage the surface of the iron.

There are many things you can do to extend the life of steam generator irons.  I recommend doing everything you can to take of it so it will work for many years.  Learning how to clean your steam iron will help you save money as you will find you can use the same iron for many years.  Make sure to purchase a quality iron from a specialty store that sells the best irons on the market.

Well damn everyone. I guess I’ve always been a little revelatory in my struggles with a lot of stuff, and this is just another one of those things. I think I’ve made some good decisions and I feel like I have a little more focus where 24 hours ago, I didn’t. So, thanks. Seriously. I appreciate everyone’s kind words. <3

Malesef ona karşı yapabilecek pek bir şey yok. 1500 TL aldığım Galaxy S’i 1000 TL’ye sattım mesela. Ama bu piyasanın alım gücüyle ilgili sonuçta. Daha düşük bütçeli telefonlarda daha az zarar olur.

Ask nicely, you may be surprised at the answer. I'd offer giving them the deposit and ONE extra month's rent if they aren't in the negotiating mood.

Always ask your company to see if they will be willing to chip in to this "settlement" as part of relocation expense.

use less glue, or use a glue stick
or you can use thicker paper, like construction paper instead of copy paper.
as for the things already glued, close it in a thick, heavy book over night or for a few hours, so it will flatten out

"Due to" is not a replacement for "as a result of" because it is an incomplete sentence.

The correct use of "due to" requires a verb (is, are) in front of of it. So, saying "due to the storm, the game was postponed" is incorrect. You may say "as a result of the storm, the game was postponed". If you wish to use "due to", you should say something like "the postponement of the game was due to the storm".
